2011 Rossouw’s Three Star Restaurants

The 2011 Rossouw’s Restaurants guide is currently making it’s way to bookshelves and I’m very pleased to announce the Rossouw’s Three Star Restaurants for 2011.

It’s vital to note that Rossouw’s Restaurants compares “apples to apples”, therefore restaurants are placed in one of three categories in order to compare one restaurant to another within the same style. A casual place therefore is not compared to a fine diner, allowing for increased fairness.

Three Stars in the Casual category go to:

Magica Roma, Pinelands; Île de Païn, Knysna; Mariana’s, Stanford; Assaggi, Illovo

Three Stars in the Smart-casual category:

Bizerca Bistro, Cape Town; Jordan with George Jardine, Stellenbosch; 95 Keerom, Cape Town; Reuben’s, Franschhoek; Terroir, Stellenbosch; The Butcher Shop and Grill, Sandton; The Grillhouse, Rosebank; Mastrantonio, Illovo; Ritrovo, Pretoria; Thomas Maxwell Bistro, Sandton.

Three Stars in the Sophisticated category:

Aubergine, Cape Town; The Greenhouse, Constantia; La Colombe, Constantia; Nobu, Cape Town; Overture, Stellenbosch; The Roundhouse, Camps Bay; Rust en Vrede, Stellenbosch; The Tasting Room, Franschhoek; Zachary’s, Knysna.

And finally, a new Platinum Award for restaurants that consistently deliver an exceptional dining experience in all respects – for 2011 there is only one winner:

Rust en Vrede, Stellenbosch

One Response to 2011 Rossouw’s Three Star Restaurants

  1. Egon says:

Like the list with one exception – Aubergine. Overrated, fussy and pretentious in my opinion. Don’t understand why you consistently rate it so highly. Not sure either about the Butcher Shop – a great steak house, yes but not really a gastronomic experience. looking forward to seeing the 2011 guide.
