I think those spaces that the Victorians (or was it the Georgians?) created at the bottom of their rambling estate gardens was called a grotto – where the plants grow wild and there’s a water-fall, some “ruins”. Kove is a bit like this – but upmarket, naturally. It’s a comfortable space, lovely lighting at night, with plush textures of French-style chairs, “Scandinavian” wood and sculptural light fixtures – and “creepers” climbing the walls. There’s a good-looking bar at the back, and on weekends they have a DJ station, so avoid if you’re feeling old.
So a place this good looking usually adds up to little on the plate – but one look at the good (though pricy) wine list suggests that Kove could be different – and it kinda is, in the sense that you can happily eat here. It’s a grillhouse, essentially, with a large seafood section (yes, there is a sea view and yes, platters SQ) and the food we sampled was decently prepared, safe and sound, generic in a happy way. The service is good, slick but not obnoxious, so a great place for people-watching or taking a young romantic prospect.

Thought it was a little bland, nice enough surroundings, but dull food, pricy aswell.
I would like to highlight JPR’s comments about the service. As a new couple, we dine out quite often and have become rather negative about the dessicate service we have been receiving. The Kove was so refreshing in the way they handled us. They were attentive without being intrusive – fantastic!
