It's comfort cooking, but honestly, this remains my favorite restaurant in the Cape. Unpretentious, hugely reliable; try the hummus, great fattoush salad with incredibly zingy and fresh pomegranate flavor, anything with lamb, the sensual-textured semolina cake. The owner, David, is a gem. (If you smoke shisha, he also prepares the most delicious, smoothest one in the Cape -- forget Cubana!) I love lingering here and listening to the enthusiasm and pride with which he describes the details of his meals, from the manner of soaking sugar beans for fassoulia to the mint in the water! This place is a home. Great for a two- or three-months-into-a-love-affair date, when you want to linger over fantasies of what might be in the home you'll create yourselves.
