A very early dinner on a Tuesday in early July, so it was quiet. The person on the phone was accommodating allowing us to come early.
Welcome was good although the restaurant was cold and we had to ask for the fire to be lit - they used old cardboard box and didn't turn on the fan for a bit so we got a dose of dodgy smoke! After that all good though.
Service was OK, not very engaging but efficient.
Food was average - fries cooked in old oil, could tell by the taste. Chicken schnitzel for 2 year old was a full portion and in one huge piece. Fish OK and beef fillet good, although slightly overcooked.
Noticed Rudi Minaar is now there so am aure he'll give it the necessary, as it's a good (if somewhat large) venue... will try again in the summer to see how well he's done.
Great Place with your mates | By Lindsey | Friday, 04 February 2011
Simon's is a great place for a casual meal with your friends. It is nice especially in the summer when you can take advantage of the outdoor seating. I would recommend the burgers which are fantastic with a glass of Constantia red.

This reliable restaurant is consistant with a menu for all ages. Generous amounts of food. Constantia wines a must.
Happily no live music the evening we went there.
