Good local indian | By Craig | Sunday, 15 January 2012
Food good and as one expects from Indian cuisine, Vegetarian friendly.
Wine list well matched and reasonably priced.
Ambiance is stereotypically Indian.
Well supported by the local Bryanston residents.

Having previoulsy rated this "local" venue, use as one of the best Indian restaurants in Johannesburg, our last vist was pleasant, but the food was not up to standard. I have come to accept the sparodic service in view of the quality of the food, although this time round my main course was below par.
The Chicken Tikka Masala I ordered was both overcooked (dry) and tepid. I also requested medium spiciness, but the chicken was prepared mild.
The Lamb Shish Kebab starter my wife and I shared was very good and my wife claimed her Chicken Korma to be as good as usual.
Food Fantastic, service deplorable! | By Alistair | Monday, 06 June 2011
This weekend decided to have a celebratory dinner at Ghazal in PeterPlace.
Evening started well, shown to our table, first impressions are not bad, and the decor is decent if not ostentatious.
Our waiter Adrian arrived after some 10 mins of waiting, I excused this due to restaurant being rather full on the evening, however this should have been seen as a precursor of things to come.
Drinks were ordered, 2 glasses of wine took 25 mins to arrive. On their final arrival we placed our orders. Starters was of a mixed platter and potato pokara. Mains were a Chicken Kadai curry and a Lamb Gosht Badami, both of which to be served with naan bread.
After a considerable wait warmed plates arrived? Followed suddenly by the mains! The waiter was asked where the starters were to which the reply was, "Sorry I forgot to order them", there was no further apology or follow up from management.
The rubbish service aside the food was an absolute pleasure to eat, both dishes absolutely full of complex flavour and pleasure in each mouthful. The lack of a starter was probably, in hindsight, a blessing as it allowed us to better enjoy the wonderful mains.
I would recommend Ghazal’s for its food, nothing else. You would probably be best served to order take-away and save yourself the disappointment of rubbish service.
Best Indian Cuisine in Jhb! | By Christie-Anne | Saturday, 26 February 2011
We have experienced the service, food and ambiance at Ghazal in Sandton including take outs! They always take your requests to heart to the smallest detail as I am an extremely fussy eater. The food is a flavour explosion and is perfectly cooked! The manager is always friendly and helpful and goes the extra mile! I love Indian Cuise, not hot food and here you have a choice of flavour or heat! I have tried other Indian Restaurants in the area and was extremely dissapointed!
