This is one of those places that one hopes will be around for good, if not a long time, but the quiet that inhabits it worries me. Lunch and dinner, it remains sparsely subscribed while the quality is well above many of its peers. The why bothers me, it may have something to do with the spirit of a place that began by having a chef’s menu as standard and has now defaulted to a la carte. Was it the market they misread, or is this a bigger problem of a naive team with more of a dream than their own on-the-ground experience? Anyway, this is a place for seriously considered food, over-concerned service, and an anodyne modern feeling.

Rossouw’s Restaurants is a website that complements the printed Rossouw’s guide, now in its seventh year. For both the printed guide and all reviews here, the principle is: reviews are conducted anonymously; and all meals are paid for. For this site, the blog, all reviews are written by the editor, JPR, unless noted. Naturally, you may not agree with all the views. You are welcome to comment, but the site reserves the right to edit and/or delete content that is purely malicious.
