Your Independent Guide

Rossouw’s Restaurants is your independent guide to the restaurants of Cape Town, the Winelands and a selection on the Garden Route - and is soon to include Gauteng. This best-selling guide is available in most book stores and can also be ordered using this link.

How the guide works

All reviews are made anonymously, so you can be sure of incisive, useful information and honest opinion. The editorial team anonymously visits every restaurant and pays for the meal. Furthermore, diners are invited to contribute their views, reviews, comments, raves or rants. We’d love to know what you think – send us a review here.

Candid description and honest opinion is the cornerstone of Rossouw’s Restaurants. Also, the guide rates each restaurant against its price-point peers, giving you a fair impression of value for money.

You will also find further information about the restaurant in italics – such as views, vegetarian, family-friendly, etc. These features are also listed at the back for easy cross-referencing; along with lists of restaurants according to type of cuisine.

Openings and closings, changes and rearranges

The guide aims to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible. However, restaurants are a moving target, and opening times change, menus change, sometimes the whole establishment changes - or disappears.Should you have relevant information on openings, closings or changes, we would like to know. E-mail us.

The editor, Jean-Pierre Rossouw, has been a restaurant reviewer for The Mail & Guardian as well as Food and Wine Editor for Condé Nast House and Garden. He is also the wine writer for the Cape Times and Best Life magazine. Since starting Rossouw’s Restaurants in 2004, it has grown to become a top ten best-seller at leading bookstores like Exclusive Books and Wordsworths.
